Gaston County land, town by town
The eastern side of the county, closest to Charlotte, includes Belmont, Mount Holly, Cramerton, McAdenville and Lowell. Land there is often infill or small acreage near existing utilities. Gastonia, the county seat, has older mill-era neighborhoods with narrow lots and teardowns that suit new homes. To the north and west, Dallas, Stanley, Bessemer City and Cherryville have more rural tracts on wells and septic.
Flood zones and the rivers
The Catawba River forms the county's eastern edge and the South Fork Catawba runs through the middle, so some parcels include Special Flood Hazard Area. The Gaston County GIS parcel record shows a flood hazard field, and the NC Flood Risk Information System shows the detail. Floodplain does not make land worthless, it limits where homes can go. We map it before offering.
Back taxes in Gaston County
Property taxes in North Carolina are due September 1 and become delinquent January 6, when interest begins. Gaston County Tax Collection lists the remedies the county can use on delinquent taxes, including in rem and mortgage-style foreclosure. If you are behind, a sale lets the attorney pay the taxes from the proceeds. See selling land with back taxes in Gaston County.
